KRB Machinery is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of our industrial machinery. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving innovation, advancing machine performance, and developing a high-performing engineering team. This position is full-time and fully on-site in Wrightsville, PA with some travel to customer or vendor locations. KRB Machinery is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of our industrial machinery. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving innovation, advancing machine performance, and developing a high-performing engineering team. This position is full-time and fully on-site in Wrightsville, PA with some travel to customer or vendor locations. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with deep machine design expertise who thrives in a collaborative manufacturing environment and is passionate about building industry-leading equipment.
- Lead the end-to-end design and development of industrial machinery from concept through production release.
- Drive innovation by introducing new technologies, materials, and engineering methods that enhance product performance and maintain KRB's competitive advantage.
- Mentor, coach, and develop a team of mechanical engineers while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Develop detailed 3D models, assemblies, and production drawings using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Perform engineering analyses including stress calculations (FEA), load analysis, tolerance stack-ups, and fatigue assessments.
- Apply GD&T and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to create high-quality, production-ready designs.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, Sales, and suppliers to deliver reliable, cost-effective equipment.
- Lead design reviews, engineering change management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Engage with customers throughout the design process to gather requirements, solve complex engineering challenges, and ensure solutions meet application needs.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable safety, regulatory, and engineering standards.
- Support product lifecycle planning and engineering best practices that align with the company's strategic growth objectives.
- Uphold KRB’s mission, vision, and values, demonstrate stewardship of employee ownership, and recognize the importance of safety for products, our customers, and our teammates.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 8+ years of machine design experience in an industrial or manufacturing equipment environment.
- Proven experience leading engineering projects and teams through complete product development cycles.
- Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Strong understanding of drafting standards and GD&T.
- Strong proficiency of stress analyses using FEA.
- Experience with manufacturing processes including machining, welding, and assembly.
- Experience designing hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical systems.
- Excellent analytical, collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and improve engineering processes.
